![]() I started getting offered tourguide type missions at 100K a pop. My second one died before I had it as tweaked so for fun I bought the Starliner. But they have guns, turrets and room for cargo. I bought another (their 200K or so) they desperately need the turning upgrade and the afterburners. But it got blown up while touring Auroran space I think. I eventually had it souped up pretty good. I eventually bought a Pirate Argosy at Viking. And, look, conveniently I'm on Viking, so we're picking up something good. After my extended shuttle tours of duty. (Unfortunately, I was a bit busy for screenshots.)ĭuring the fight, I threw some rockets its way, but they're no match for a real ship.Īt this point, I've made a good bit of money, and I'm tired of running away from things. Fortunately, a Vell-os Arrow peels off from the Fed task force to splatter the Valk with its energy beam. I dodge and weave around it to try to evade the Valk. Luckily, there's a giant space battle between the Federation and Aurorans just heating up. Of course, it turns hostile and starts chasing me around the system. I bail out its crew, right from under the nose of a Pirate Valkyrie. I'm on a delivery mission to Viking when I spot yet another derelict. (To get the Sigma ones, check the Shipyard on Earth.) I've gone to a Bar all of twice in over six months of in-game time. The most common place to pick up weird missions is the Bar. DO NOT take any generic "Delivery to Earth" missions from the Mission BBS unless you want a storyline.)Īlso, I've been avoiding the missions intentionally. (Unfortunately, the one that doesn't require a combat rating is also one that is kinda frustrating for new players. I haven't exactly been chalking up a big kill count in my shuttle. Most of the storyline stuff requires a minimum "Combat Rating," specifically to avoid springing it on you when you're still a newb. If you haven't played Nova before, you're probably thinking "Okay, so where are all these storyline missions you were talking about earlier?" Let me explain. I recommend doing a bunch of these as a new player, because it's a great way to explore Federation space a bit. I run into a bunch of pirates, but the Federation seems to have stepped up enforcement, since almost every time a Fed Destroyer will blow them out of the sky the second they attack me or another trader. Pick up on Goliath, drop off on Viking, hop to Snowmelt for another pickup, drop off on Altia, &c., all in the time normally set aside to do one mission.Īnyway, I start running United Shipping missions a lot. This lets you have several missions running at once much more easily. A 10k mission usually isn't worth the trouble. Payouts vary! Take the high-paying ones.Ideally, you want to get from your current location to the pickup planet without making any pit stops, refuel there, and then do the same to get to your destination. Every planetfall adds a day to your travel time. ![]() Anything under 100 tons - which is to say, the size of a ( non-Mod) Starbridge or smaller - can do a jump in 1 day. Heavier ships spend more time in hyperspace each time they jump. To make money from these, follow these rules of thumb: ![]() You'll fail the mission if you run out of time, however. " The payoffs can be significant: up to 50,000 credits for a single mission, or more for the "long-range" ones we'll open up later. United Shipping missions differ slightly from the regular missions. I've still got some cash left over after those. Having one of these makes exploring around much safer, since you can recover from stranding yourself out in the middle of nowhere with no more jump energy.
